Culture Weekend 2022

In celebration of the return of live events, Teach Solais Community Development and Ballyjamesduff Community Council were delighted to bring a weekend of live artistic demonstration and performance to the Ballyjamesduff community and visitors.

On Friday the 17th of September, from 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm, on Market Square, Erebidae Aerial Circus debuted their new show, Triple Goddess. It was a stunning display of Celtic mythology through the arts of storytelling, fire dancing and live music. This was funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

On Saturday the 18th of September, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, there was an Art and Craft Fair with live demonstrations and entertainment on Market House Square. Demonstrations included a traditional wood carving demonstration by Joey Burns, a children's circus workshop with Gilly Bean circus performer and a Zumba demonstration with instructor Aisha this was funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

At 7:30 pm, there was Live Music from The Highstool Prophets in the handball alley of the MUGA Facility brought to you by Cavan County Council. A brilliant performance with an electric atmosphere. See a video below!

On Sunday the 19th of September, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, there was an Art and Craft Fair with live demonstrations and entertainment on Market House Square. Demonstrations included Traditional African and Neo-Soul music from Danny G (of Danny G and the Major 7ths) with Adcenter Cultural Dancing Group funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

At 4:30 pm, there was Live Music from Dixie King Jazz Band ft. Gene Bannon and Daire O'Reilly in the handball alley of the MUGA Facility brought to you by Cavan County Council. A brilliant performance with an electric atmosphere. See a video below!

Teach Solais Community Development were thrilled to invite the community to reacquaint themselves with the arts and enjoy this immersive weekend of cultural activity brought right to our doorstep.
